It was so much more in demand than the former, that the Audi A3 Hatchback model itself was removed from the Audi line in Canada.
Riding the waves of this wonderful achievement, Audi decided to break the subcompact Sedan model down into two more sport versions, one of which is the extremely streamlined RS 3, the most performant of the two. This version has been renewed on the foundation of the Audi A3 Sedan’s latest generation. Exterior style: a magnified athletic look that is sure to turn heads
The very first thing you will notice about the new 2022 Audi RS 3 Sedan –which should become available for purchase in Canada around the second trimester of 2022- is its body and exterior.
Upon laying eyes on it, you will quickly see that all of the alluring details found on the body of the new generation of the A3 Sedan work in harmony and combine into making it a true stylistic masterpiece. The beveled headlights, streamlined taillights and low roof are just a few of the features that make the latest version of this subcompact car impossible not to notice. The Audi signature four interlocking rings just may be calling your attention back to it, again and again, from the north shore of Montreal all the way to the Laurentians!
This is even more true in regard to the new 2022 RS 3. It elevates all of the features of the latest generation to a new level. It has an impressive monoframed radiator grille –to which we must add the contoured “mask” which elegantly surrounds it and the headlights- a vent under the front wings, lateral skirts painted black, 19 inch sport wheels, a trunk spoiler lip and a rear diffuser which incorporates the two oval exhausts so typical to the Audi RS models. This incredibly sporty subcompact sedan offers an athletic body which is both intimidating and bewitching.
Outstanding performance makes it the queen of all super-sport subcompacts, before it even hits Canadian roads!
Other than an impressively athletic and stylish body, the motor has always been what really defines a RS 3. This model is sure not to disappoint: in it you will find the extraordinary five-cylinder turbo 2.5 liter engine, with its ever present 394 horsepower. However, its maximum engine torque now reaches 369 lb-ft (approximately 15 lb-ft more than the last model) due to its cylinder ignition frequency (1-2-4-5-3). It functions on a wide range of use: between 2 250 and 5 600 rotations per minute. If this is not enough to convince you, the richness and depth of its sound sure will.
It will remind you of the purring of the R8‘s V10 engine. It is also paired with an incredibly efficient double clutch gearbox with seven gears, as well as Audi’s indispensable all-wheel drive, allowing it to reach unexpected levels of performance. You will reach 0-100 km/hr in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/hr (which is also customizable to 280 km/hr or 290 km/hr). These numbers, given by Audi Canada, are sure to make many ‘super cars’ on Blainville and Laurentian roads green with envy!
Being powerful machine, the 2022 RS 3 is also sure to give you an unparalleled driving experience, notably thanks to its torque distributor at the rear of the vehicle, as well as a new drift driving mode. Once this mode is engaged, the distributor can send up to 1290 lb-ft into only one wheel, allowing this little bombshell of a car to drift in ways that will surprise you. Other modes are also included, like Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, Individual RS and Efficiency mode, as well as the RS Performance mode, which has been developed to reach optimal performance on closed circuits.
An interior which will make you believe you’re in the cockpit of a race car, while offering you an incredible feeling of luxury and cutting edge technology.
Finally the cherry on the sundae: the 2022 RS 3 interior! Keeping true to its purest tradition, Audi will not let you down with the interior of this sedan, with its incredibly streamlined and refined design. Whether it is the rich but understated horizontal dashboard or the geometric vents, the interior of this Audi bombshell will make you feel so at ease that you will be focusing on the only thing that really matters: the road. With the flattened sports steering wheel (which can be covered in Alcantara) offering the perfect grip, with every switch at your fingertips and with the front bucket seats allowing for dynamic driving, you will never want to leave the road!
Even with all of these marvels, it is the interior cutting edge technology that will sweep you off your feet. The dashboard contains a 12.3 inch screen that is 100% digital, a central 10.1 inch “RS Monitor” screen, integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Car for your smartphone, as well as head-up display.
