The fifth generation of the Audi A4, which debuted in 2016, was a revolution in its segment. It was the first car from the manufacturer to display the Virtual Cockpit instead of the traditional dashboard instrumentation. It also inaugurated a major evolution of the MMI system which has become compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for better integration of the smartphones’ functionalities.
With the 2020 A4, Audi is offering us more than a simple update of its best-selling sedan not only from the outside, but also of its entertainment information system.
What are the aesthetic new features of the 2020 Audi A4?
We are granted with major changes in the appearance of the car. The front part gains in aggressiveness with a new grille and more stretched LED headlight optics. The headlights of this 2020 A4 inherit the LED Matrix design and technology from more prestigious models like the A8. All this gives the impression that the car is lower and more sporty. In addition, as of the Progressiv trim, the front bumper incorporates a small air intake which gives the car a decidedly meaner air!
The 2020 Audi A4 now comes standard with new 18-inch alloy wheels. The body lines above the wheel arches and on the doors strengthen the muscular appearance of the car and underline the presence of the quattro all-wheel drive system.
Finally, the new taillights connected by a chrome line, directly inspired by the Audi A6, and the rectangular tailpipes widen the car and give it a more imposing presence. In the Technik trim, the 2020 A4 is also equipped with dynamic rear lights with their own animation.
The S-line package is of course still available as an option on the 2020 A4 and offers 19-inch wheels, sports suspension and sports seats. A “black” version of the S-line package will add black body and interior elements, in addition to specific 5–V–spoke–star wheels in titanium finish.
Technical improvements for the A4 2020.
This restyling of the Audi A4 also brings a lot of new features in embedded technologies. The turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 248hp is always combined with the S-tronic 7-speed gearbox. This allows this A4 to achieve 0-100km / h in 5.8s. However, the engine block receives a lightweight 48-volt hybridization system that reduces fuel consumption through better management of the power supply of the car’s many driving aids. The cockpit receives the updated version of the Virtual Cockpit as well as a 10.1-inch central touch screen for the infotainment system which appeared last year with the 2019 Q8 or the 2019 A6.
With all these improvements, the Audi 2020 A4 therefore remains the benchmark for the segment on the Canadian market and that is why it was chosen as the best luxury compact car by the 2020 Car Guide.
